The full red band trailer for The Last of Us has been released to the public, and with it comes a closer look at the lengths to which our protagonists will go to escape the terrors of the post-apocalyptic world.

Almost every bit of footage for Naughty Dog's The Last of Us has been measured for maximum effect. That goes double true here, as the hyper-violence on display shows just how brutal an existence Joel and Ellie must live to survive in the wilds of what was once civilization.

Ellie appears in this trailer to be much more of a central figure than she originally appeared as well. Sure, she was always a part of the action and story, but here, Ellie is finally given some much appreciated depth. It will certainly be interesting to see how this young girl grows and adapts during the course of the game. Naughty Dog has been great at character relationships in the Uncharted series, but The Last of Us appears to be taking things up a notch. Hopefully the devs can deliver on the promise we see in this extended trailer.
