Charitable donations are always up during the holidays. Maybe it's just a heightened awareness or maybe we do it because we feel guilty.  However, for those in need the thoughts of getting from day to day never go away. Donations to the Food Bank of West Central Texas were great over the last few weeks, but please don't forget they need continued donations to keep folks fed.  While the Food Bank heads into the new year with a surplus, that is quickly depleted. The organization supplies 175 non-profit agencies in 13 counties. They generally distribute close to 400,000 pounds of food monthly. You will remember many of these statistics from Decembers 'Share Your Christmas' Food Drive event.

It is estimated that the Big Country has 50,000 residents who live in poverty and need the help of the Food Bank.

So as we all return to our routines of getting back to work, getting the kids back to school and worrying about those day to day obligations, don't forget there are some folks who are just hoping to have a nice meal on the table each day.  Please continue to remember the Food Bank and their need of non-perishable food items or cash donations. Just a $10.00 donation can provide food to make 45 meals.

Donations can be made via their website. You will also find information about other ways you can help such as volunteering your time to the organization.
