The Back to School Texas Tax Free Weekend Starts Today

Can you believe we are talking about back to school already? It’s not even the end of July yet but before you know it, it will be time to start shopping for school supplies and clothing for the new year. Texas tax free weekend is one month away and is a great way to save a little money while getting the things you need.
Texas tax free weekend will be August 17-19th this year. What does this mean exactly? You can save money on anything from pens and pencils, backpacks, to shoes/clothing and more. Items priced under $100 can be bought without having to pay the State sales tax of 8.25%.
There are of course a few exceptions to which this “no tax” applies. You can see a full list of what can and can’t be purchased tax free on the Comptroller’s website.
This holiday began in 1999 and it’s estimated that almost $65 million dollars will be saved this year alone by shoppers not having to pay sales taxes.
Do you take advantage of tax free weekend when buying your back to school supplies and clothing?
