Sunny Sweeney and Lee Ann Womack, have spent plenty of time on the radio singing their songs. Now, this pair of Texas artists are going to try their hand at a different side of radio. Along with have signed on to be co-host of a New York City-based morning radio show. It will debut later this month.

Sweeney, a Longview, Texas native, has two critically acclaimed albums to her credit, including ‘Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame’ and ‘Concrete‘. She had a Top 10 hit with “From a Table Away”, and charted in the Top 40 with ‘Staying’s Worse Than Leaving’ and ‘Drink Myself Single’, earning Sweeney an Academy of Country Music Award nomination for Top New Female Artist.

This shouldn’t set back Sunny’s plans to continue recording music. In fact, she recently signed on with a new record label, Thirty Tiger Records, and is expected to have a CD of new music by 2014.

Lee Ann Womack’s popularity started with the smash country crossover hit ‘I Hope You Dance’ and soon after, she found herself serving as duet partner of choice for the likes of George Strait, Alan Jackson and Don Henley. The Jacksonville, Texas native has taken home CMA Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for ‘There’s More Where That Came From’. She has also won Single of the Year twice (for ‘I Hope You Dance’ and ‘I May Hate Myself In The Morning’) and Vocal Event of the Year twice. Womack also won a Grammy for work she did with Willie Nelson. She has also performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and several Presidential inaugurations.

We’re not sure if Lee Ann will take on radio full time and leave her music career behind. She was set to release a new album, ‘The Way That I’m Living’ in 2012, but parted ways with her record company, and the future of that project is uncertain at this point.

Now Sweeney and Womack will join longtime NYC radio personality Blair Gardner and fellow singers Chuck Wicks and Terri Clark to try their hand at the radio business. Good luck, ladies!
