Texas Country Singer and Songwriter Thom Shepherd Visits Abilene and KEAN-105 [AUDIO, VIDEO]

If I were to ask you to name off some of the most popular names in country music, Thom Shepherd probably won't show up on your top 10. But unless you are a liner note reader, you may be surprised to find out that Shepherd has a connection with some of your favorite artists and songs.

Actually, Thom Shepherd's songwriting credits include big time hits like Craig Morgan's 'Redneck Yacht Club', David Ball's 'Riding With Private Malone' and over 60 other songs for country stars like Colt Ford, Bucky Covington, George Jones, Montgomery Gentry, Tracy Lawrence and more.

On the Texas scene, Shepherd has written several songs for Kevin Fowler, including his huge hits 'Beer Season' and 'Cheaper to Keep Her', and Josh Abbott's #1 song 'My Texas', among others.

Thom paid a visit to the KEAN studios (with fellow singer/songwriter Coley McCabe) to talk about writing, and the fact that he has a new CD of his own, entitled 'Simplify'. Check out the interview, where Shepherd explains the reason behind the name of the album, shares that he is a two time cancer survivor, and plays the title track for us in studio. There's just something about some people, where spending 10 minutes with them can leave an indelible impression on you. Thom Shepherd is one of those people. KEAN was his last stop after a long day on Texas roads, but you wouldn't know it. Shepherd brought fresh energy into the studio that was greatly appreciated.
