Taylor Swift has taken a shine to the powerful Kennedy family in recent months — and they’ve taken big notice of her, too. The American family is honoring the young songstress for her kind-hearted ways and philanthropic efforts with the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, which will be handed to her at a dinner event in December.

“Taylor Swift’s dedication to advocacy at such a young age continues to inspire me, and I’m delighted to honor her as one of our 2012 Ripple of Hope Award recipients,” Kerry Kennedy, President of the Center for Justice, said in a statement. “As a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all.”

To say that Swift — who spent July 4th with the Kennedys in Cape Cod — has accomplished a lot for her age is an understatement. The 22-year-old singer has helped her hometown of Nashville recover from ravaging floods, donated millions to the Country Music Hall of Fame in the name of music education, helped kids by contributing books to libraries in need, and even reached out to fans on a personal level, like she did with cancer-stricken teen Kevin McGuire, her would-have-been ACM Awards date. Plus, Swift has strongly advocated against bullying members of the LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, intersex) community.

The Ripple of Hope Award is given to leaders of the international business, entertainment, and activist communities to thank them for their commitment to social change. Previous winners have included U2′s Bono, George Clooney and former Vice President Al Gore. The blonde-turned-brunette singer will receive her Ripple of Hope Award on Dec. 3 at a black-tie dinner, which will be hosted by Alec Baldwin.

This isn’t the first time, even this year, that someone has taken notice of the ‘Mean’ hitmaker’s big heart. Just last month, country music’s sweetheart was honored with the Star of Compassion Award for her dedication to kindness. On Monday, Swift was nominated for a VH1 Do Something! Award, which is a nod to her community involvement.
