Taylor Swift Tunes Into the Olympics, Cheers on Aly Raisman and Missy Franklin

Taylor Swift has been uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter lately. It probably has something to do with the fact that she’s busy preparing to release a follow-up album to 2010′s ‘Speak Now,’ doing promotions for Cover Girl and attending awards shows. But even the super busy country music starlet took time out of her schedule to watch the 2012 Olympics and tweet in support of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team and 17-year-old Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin.

“CONGRATS @Aly_Raisman and all of the fab five on your incredible win!!!,” she wrote to her 17 million followers, calling out one star gymnast in particular. But two members of the gold medal U.S. team responded, undoubtedly excited to be getting a shoutout from one of the world’s most famous faces.

“Thank you so much Taylor! You just made my night! You are my favorite singer!!!!,” Aly Raisman replied.

McKayla Maroney followed soon after, gushing over how much the all-star U.S. women’s team loves the ‘Love Story’ songstress’ music. “OMG thankyouuu @taylorswift13!!! This team is beyond obsessed with you & your music!! seriously.. we love you! Thanks so much for watchin<3,” she tweeted.

Clearly, the admiration between Swift and Team U.S.A. is mutual!

Swift also gave credit to Missy (the Missile) Franklin, who brought tears to the eyes of many Americans as she took home a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke and both gold and bronze medals for relay events.

“So blown away by @FranklinMissy! I was so happy to see you win, girl :) ,” Swift tweeted to Franklin. Just the other day, Scotty McCreery also congratulated the swimmer using Twitter as a platform.

While a gold medal is obviously the highest honor for these young athletes, a personal congratulations from country music’s sweetheart isn’t a bad prize, either!
