Abilene's largest and most popular clay shoot is upon us. The 11th Annual West Texas Rehabilitation Center's Top Gun Classic Clay Shoot is taking place March 21st and 22nd. The classic is at capacity as far as shooters are concerned. As I was broadcasting live at Haught's Tree Service recently, I spoke with the Rehab Centers Director of Marketing and Donor Relations Dan Huggins (who was there picking up prizes), he said "we will never be too full that we can't take another team."

The 11th annual Top Gun Clay Shoot benefiting the West Texas Rehab Center is scheduled for March 22nd and 23rd at the Abilene Clay Sports south range. It's the first year as a two-day event and the firsrt time it will feature two separate courses to shoot from. This clay shoot is one of the more popular clay shoots in West Texas, with more shotguns given away and more prizes as well. A sign-up discount is being offered if registered by Thursday, February 28th.

The 2013 West Texas Rehab Center's Telethon Raises Over 1.2 Million Dollars

As the old saying goes, "it ain't over till the fat lady has sung" and she has done so because the totals are in. The West Texas Rehab Center's telethon and auction raised, $1,202,646. This is not the all-time high for the Rehab center, in fact last year's telethon was, when the Rehab center raised just over 1.33 million dollars. This year's total is the fourth highest in the history of the Rehab center's telethon and auction.

The West Texas Rehabilitation Center's Annual Telethon is scheduled to air live from the Abilene Civic Center, January 19 from 7 p.m. to midnight. As with the telethon every year there is a huge auction that takes place and you can participate in from your computer. You'll find everything imaginable from handmade afghans to yard furniture. The 43rd annual West Texas REHAB Telethon is scheduled for January 19, 2013 at the Abilene Civic Center. This years 'featured' entertainers were announced at there annual press conference at the West Texas Rehabilitation Center (WTRC) Dec. 3rd. This year the 'Headline Entertainment' responsibility will be shared by Jana Kramer and hometown legend Aaron Watson. While Aaron Watson did make a live appearance at the press conference, Charlie Chase (the telethon's host) appeared via video-Skype from Nashville, TN.

West Texas Rehab, the National Down Syndrome Society and The Upside Down Club will be holding the 1st annual 'Buddy Walk' on Saturday, October 13th from 9am-Noon at Wylie Baptist Church. This event will provide a great opportunity for the Down Syndrome support groups in the Abilene area to get together and for the community to show support for those living with Down syndrome.
