Since mom passed a couple years ago I've been looking after my aging father and it can get pretty interesting at times, especially when you've got a dad like mine (half drill sergeant, half comedian). When mom was alive she told dad what he was hungry for. Now, dad found his hunger independence and he tells me what he's been craving. Last week he says "you know son, turkey and dressing isn't just for Thanksgiving, I'm hungry and I want turkey and dressing. Take me to eat turkey and dressing, right now."

HSU Students Will Host a "Turkey Day 5K" Fun Run to Benefit Abilene's Connecting Caring Communities November 17th

The 'Turkey Day 5K' is set for Saturday, November 17th, and will begin at the Abilene Civic Center northwest parking lot. The event is hosted by Hardin-Simmons University’s (HSU) Student Congress and Student Activities organizations. The Turkey Day 5K is open to anyone who wants to participate and is a fundraiser to benefit Connecting Caring Communities. The Abilene Runners Club will assist the HSU student organization with the Turkey Day 5K.

This Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday make a picture perfect turkey, and for the longest time I thought it was not at all possible. I resolved myself to deep-frying and sometimes smoking a turkey because when I baked one it was either too dry, too light or too dark in color. My question was, can I make an oven roasted turkey to come out moist and that beautiful golden color that I only see in the movies. I want a picture perfect turkey or is that the reason it's called a "picture perfect turkey" because you only see it in the movies and in television commercials?
