There were more new-comers making all kinds of chart noise and/or history throughout the year. In this the best of the best list, the 'cream really did rise to the top'. The super-stars like George Strait, Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift did make the list, but with the exception of Swift they didn't break the top ten. The Best song for the year, according to our listeners here in West Texas is, Little Big Town's (LBT) 'Pontoon,' the official summer song of 2012, is the #1 song in our Top 10 of 2012.

As the year comes to a close, I always like to reflect on the year in music. This is a best of the best list, this is the 'cream that rose to the top'. Will names like Strait or Chesney make it on this list? I'm not wasting anymore time, let's count down the top 10 songs of 2012. Taking the second highest spot on this years countdown is the duo that was waiting tables during a Country Music Association Awards dinner several years ago. After they had worked so hard that night, Thompson Square promised each other, they'd be eating dinner the next year and not serving it. What a difference a year made because Thompson Square has won several awards since that table serving day and they deserve to be in the 'Best of the Best.' Thompson Square is at #2 in our Top 10 of 2012.

I'm not wasting anymore time, let's count down the top 10 songs of 2012. It's hard to believe that Eric Church has been around since his debut Album 'Sinners Like Me' in 2006. So why haven't we seen more of Church at the top of our lists? Because he's had very few songs reach the top twenty let alone the top ten, but in the last twelve months he's changed things, because Eric has been living in the to ten. Now Eric Church deserves to be in amongst 'Best of the Best.' and at #3 spot in our Top 10 of 2012.

Miranda deserves to be counted among the 'Best of the Best.' Miranda Lambert  comes in at #6 in our Top 10 of 2012.
