Alright rodeo fans it's that time again, the high school rodeo finals are coming next week. This is an annual event for Abilene and brings in a lot of great folks to our community. This is the 27th year for Abilene to host the event and brings in over 600 contestants and their families.

April 25, 2012 Spring in Texas means beautiful wildflowers. You see them growing on the side of the highway and they are just full of color. I love spring time just for this reason, of course, it also means allergies of which I am not fond. Sometimes when you're driving you don't have time to stop and take pictures but I did just that recently.

Texas Independence Day was this past Friday March 2nd, and March 6th, marks the day that many defenders fell during the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. With such rich Texas history upon us, the folks at Hardin-Simmons University have a very significant piece of that history on display. A letter written by General Sam Houston.
February 6, 2012 ABC radio news has just confirmed that 6-time Grammy winner Randy Travis was arrested this morning for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was not only booked for DWI but also for having an open bottle of wine with him at the time he was pulled over. The Sanger, Texas Police department has confirmed that the 52 year old Travis was apprehended in front of a church at 1:30 in the morning.
September 9, 2011 High school football in Texas is almost a religion. Fans are fanatical about their teams and during the fall everything revolves around the team games. There's not much that will halt a football game except maybe a drug cartel. A Texas high school football game that was to be played Friday night was canceled due to drug cartel extortion.

August 28, 2011 The state of Texas is currently holding more than $2 billion in cash and other valuable assets and they are waiting for the rightful owners to claim it. Keep in mind it’s never too late to make a claim, especially when we're talking over 2 billion dollars. This is cash money that could not be forwarded to you because you moved and maybe didn't put in a change of address, or your old bank, credit union or lending institution lost contact with you, maybe it's an old deposit or safety deposit box with valuables that you or your family members forgot about. It could also be an inheritance. It doesn't cost anything to at least check into it.

During a live traffic news broadcast on KXAS in Fort Worth, Texas, a tower camera caught a bright object that appeared to fall from the early morning sky at 5:40am. But rather than descend straight to the ground, the object veered off at a 45 degree angle.

JaMichael Brown, nicknamed "The Moose" by hospital staff, was delivered by C-section (whew!) last Friday to Janet Johnson and her fiancé, Michael Brown. The tot now holds the title for the biggest infant ever born at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas.
July 7, 2011 This is a follow up to my earlier post today on the Mexican national Humberto Leal. He was put to death this evening following a hard fought stay of execution. This controversial case even had the White House calling for the state of Texas to stay the execution.
June 21, 2011 A woman in Corpus Christi spanked her child, grandma found out about it and took the kid to the hospital. Now the woman is on probation and has lost custody of her children.
