The first announcements were just released as to who is up for what in the Texas Regional Radio (TRR) Music Awards. Texas music newcomer Roy Solis kicked off his new year with some unexpected great news. He was just nominated for New Male Vocalist in the first round of voting. Solis said he was taken completely by surprise when he first learned of he announcement. Solis said “I’m overwhelmed and honored to be a nominee. I am grateful to my fans, my peers and radio for this honor. This is a great way to start my New Year!”

It's hard to think of an accomplishment Wade Bowen has not achieved on the Texas music scene. He's won the awards, sells out his shows, plays all the big festivals, and has recorded a "Live at Billy Bob's Texas" CD. It's been a road of steady progress since Wade's 2002 debut album "Try Not To Listen". Like with any musician, this requires some luck, but credit Bowen's work ethic, talent, and the fact that he is a really good guy for most of his career success.

Now, with the release of "The Given", Bowen has made the next logical step in growing his music and signed with Nashville label BNA.

Friday was a great day at the radio station because we got a visit from Texas music singer Brenda Kay and her band the Caprock Drifters. This was the first time the country crooner had granted a full fledged radio interview in years, prior to that she'd been on a 2 year leave from the music business to get married, have a child and write more songs. The latter of which she shared with us live, on the radio Friday.

The radio station in the Dallas Ft. Worth area known as "The Ranch" has just announced that Texas-Music singer songwriter Charla Corn will be on air regularly from 2 to 7 PM. Radio veteran Tom Bigbee retired recently and Charla was given the promotion to afternoon drive disc jockey. She had been hosting the mid-day slot for a while and was still managing to perform live and keeping her singing career alive.

New TV Show Troubadour Texas Coming to the CW Network [VIDEO]

Troubadour, TX is a new made for TV documentary series that premiered this past weekend. The documentary hosted by country artist Stacy Dean Campbell, follows over a dozen singers, including some well known Texas performers like Stephanie Urbina Jones and Rick Trevino. The one-hour, episodes will air on the CW network in most markets. Twenty two episodes are currently in production for season one and past episodes will be available for viewing at TroubadourTX.com. So if you have ever dreamed of being a singing music sensation, take a look first at what some performers go through to try to make it.
