As I sit here on the eve of our St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Radiothon I am thinking about how I will tell everyone just how great this hospital and it's people are. It's actually hard to put it into words; I wish I could just take everyone there for one day to experience it for themselves. If I could do that we would never have to ask for money again it would just be something everyone would do without prompting. However, I can't do that so I'll try to give you a reason or two here, as to why I think this is the best charity to donate your hard earned money to.

In the past few months, Jake Owen has made it clear that he wishes it could be summertime all year long. In addition to releasing an ‘Endless Summer’ EP with four summery tracks, when the handsome country crooner became the headliner for this year’s CMT on Tour package, his multi-city trek was named the ‘Jake Owen: The Summer Never Ends 2012′ tour. KEAN-105 holds its St. Jude Radiothon annually to benefit the hospital that treats sick children regardless of their family’s ability to pay. Founder Danny Thomas saw his life long dream of starting a hospital for children, become a reality fifty years ago. Who would have ever thought, when the first cancer patient walked through the doors of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, that an entertainer and his Doctor friends would find a way to cure certain types of cancer. The year was 1962 and the disease was acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cure percentage-rate was less than 4%. Fast forward 50 years, it's the same disease only the cure rate is right at 96%. It's time we all pitched into cure all other types of cancers.

Lindsey Wilkerson a St. Jude patient was just named as the Godmother of the new Carnival ship Magic. Wilkerson was diagnosed with cancer when she was just 10 years old and after three years of treatments at the Memphis Tennessee hospital doctors pronounced her cancer was in remission. Young Lindsey went on to finish high school and college. She became one of the ALSAC (the organization that raises money for St. Jude) fund-raising members in 2004. Today she is a volunteer specialist helping to engage and support St. Jude volunteers across the country. Wilkerson also volunteers as a tour guide at the hospital and is a member of the organization’s Family Advisory Council and she is the president of the St. Jude Woman’s Club. Now add to her list of responsibilities and titles, "Godmother Of The new Fun-ship Magic." Not only did Carnival Cruise lines make her Godmother to the new ship but Carnival gave half a million dollars to St. Jude, and Carnival has pledged to continue raising money with every cruise.
