This week, country fans learned which artists and songs were nominated for 2013 ACM Awards. Also revealed was which radio station and radio personalities received the honor of nominations for the industry awards. WGNA in Schenectady, N.Y. -- a proud affiliate of Taste of Country Nights radio -- is one of five stations named for the Radio Station of the Year - Medium Market award.

Like a kid with my nose stuck to the window, I have been watching the activity going on next door to our radio station. We've known for a while that a restaurant is being built, but today was different, because the signs finally went up and revealed what kind of restaurant it will be. It's the Cattle Baron Cafe' and as the name implies it is all about the beef.

Friday was a great day at the radio station because we got a visit from Texas music singer Brenda Kay and her band the Caprock Drifters. This was the first time the country crooner had granted a full fledged radio interview in years, prior to that she'd been on a 2 year leave from the music business to get married, have a child and write more songs. The latter of which she shared with us live, on the radio Friday.

The radio station in the Dallas Ft. Worth area known as "The Ranch" has just announced that Texas-Music singer songwriter Charla Corn will be on air regularly from 2 to 7 PM. Radio veteran Tom Bigbee retired recently and Charla was given the promotion to afternoon drive disc jockey. She had been hosting the mid-day slot for a while and was still managing to perform live and keeping her singing career alive.
