While Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were in Washington, DC recently to screen Jolie’s new movie, ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey,’ they also dropped in on one of Pitt’s old acquaintances — President Obama.

This week, while on vacation in Hawaii for the holidays, President Obama reached a presidential milestone. He has hit the links 90 times while in office. But, is this unusual for a US president?

President Barack Obama finally made good on his 2008 campaign promise to end the war in Iraq. On Wednesday, the president was at Fort Bragg in North Carolina to welcome troops returning home from Iraq for the last time.

He’s one of the most powerful people on the planet, but President Barack Obama is just like every other American with an average American family. In a White House briefing held Friday, President Obama announced the remaining American troops in Iraq will be home by the end of the year, closing a war effort there that has killed more than 4,400 US servicepeople and wounded 32,000 more since 2003. “After nine years, America’s war in Iraq will be over,” the president said.

The Kardashians may be fans of President Obama’s, but it doesn’t seem the affection is terribly mutual. In an interview with iVillage this week, First Lady Michelle Obama said her husband wishes daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, wouldn’t tune in to ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians.’

On Friday, President Obama joined Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Adm. Mike Mullen in formally signing a document certifying that military readiness would not be hurt by allowing gays in the military. The notice will now be sent to Congress. The action officially repeals the 17-year-old “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy enacted during the Clinton Administration and begins the 60-day waiting period

The Navy SEAL training is legendary as the most rigorous in the world. Army Rangers train to fight and win. This Video does not do justice to the amount of dedication these great American men and women do to get ready to hunt, track-down and extinguish the enemy.

I was sitting here blogging with the television on in the background.  They just broke into programming with a Special Report, what was said shocked me completely.

Wildfires are burning across our state and many of them have been right here near Abilene.  If you live in this area then you have stepped outside and smelled the burning brush, seen the haze over Abilene and your car is probably covered in a thin layer of ash. A homeless man in Austin has been arrested for starting a fire that burned 18 homes.
