A few days ago, I asked you what you think is the right age for a child to have a cell phone. Thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts, both on the radio and online. The responses were great, and there were some very strong opinions shared.

It's John Wayne day on the Encore Western channel, for two reasons. First, John Wayne was born on May 26th, so it's the Dukes birthday weekend and second, every Memorial Day weekend the Western Channel pays tribute to John Wayne by having a 'John Wayne Movie Marathon.' So I ask, what is your favorite John Wayne move?

Researchers at Texas Tech University found evidence of contamination after they tested some samples of farm-raised shrimp that came from abroad. Within the testing, the researchers discovered evidence of antibiotics and one of those antibiotics is a suspected dangerous human carcinogen. The shrimp was purchased from grocery store right here in the good ole USA.

I went to pick up my 6th grader from school and noticed several kids walking off campus, talking on cell phones. I suppose it's a sign of the times.

This Friday, May 25th is National Tap Dance Day and this day has special meaning for me because I was a tap dancer for many years. I wish it had been professionally but I wasn't THAT good. I just loved it and have danced since I was 2 1/2 years old. I took lessons from Patty Harper Dance Studio here in Abilene and even did a little teaching too. I think I've mentioned that I used to want to be a "Solid Gold" dancer; remember them? I also wanted to be a Rockette, now I want to be on Dancing with the Stars. It's fun to dream isn't it?

Like a kid with my nose stuck to the window, I have been watching the activity going on next door to our radio station. We've known for a while that a restaurant is being built, but today was different, because the signs finally went up and revealed what kind of restaurant it will be. It's the Cattle Baron Cafe' and as the name implies it is all about the beef.

Is Abilene growing or are we becoming a more nocturnal society? For as long as I can remember, Abilene only had a handful on convenience stores, a pharmacy and a Walmart open 24 hours. Today, there are at least three dozen businesses open 24hours a day.
