The biggest hunting and outdoors expo is coming to the San Angelo Coliseum, and just in time for Father's Day. The expo is June 7th, 8th and 9th with over 100 vendors participating. Americans spend over 145 billion dollars annually on hunting, fishing and the great outdoors, so it makes sense that businesses that cater to the outdoorsman will gather their collective resources to keep more of those dollars here locally. Mark your calendar, start saving your mad money and put on some comfortable walking shoes because it appears that the West Texas Hunting & Outdoorsman Expo will be a lot of fun.

When I first blogged about my love for hunting, I wrote a blog on Hunting Coyote with domesticated dogs and how popular it's becoming. That was back in December 20th of 2010. It's two years later and I thought I'd revisit the subject, only to discover the the folks up in Montana, are the expert 'Doggers' they call themselves. The practice is continuing to grow in the Lone Star State as several friends now have coyote hunting dogs. While I'm updating the blog I thought I'd update the video as well. First off, the kind of deer that are in this video are not indigenous to the great state of Texas and if you see one you are in a zoo or wildlife preserve where hunting is not allowed. Then there's the fact that there's a ton of snow on the ground, that does not happen here and the kind of deer this nut takes aim at are found mostly north of the United States, not to mention the legalities involved shooting that many deer. This crazy deer hunter didn't find only one reign deer, but rather six and then proceeds to shoot all of them.

While I've never considered a turkey, let alone a wild turkey a "scary, dangerous, run for your life beast." This reporter was so scared by this wild turkey she runs to find safety in her car, but not before the mailman drove his mail truck between the reporter and the turkey to give her a chance to get away. Even after the reporter is in her car, the turkey stalks her by circling the car and gobbling at her. It must have been her perfume or the turkey on rye sandwich she had for lunch.

With deer season right around the corner all the hunting magazines are now showing, what I call "Freak Show Bucks" on the covers. I've hunted deer nearly all my life and I've never seen anything like the deer that are being farmed and harvested now days. The pictures suck me right in, I want to harvest one of these monsters, until I start thinking how that buck got to be so big and healthy in these drought riddled seasons. It's called deer farming, another way for the land owners to recover some of the losses because of bad farming weather. These huge racked deer are becoming cash cows for the land owner/deer farmer. Here's what is happening, (and I personally don't agree with this method).

With deer season upon us it's good to know that some deer are not afraid to take on any new comers in their territory, check out this dog just meandering through the forest, minding his own business when his canine day turns for the worst when a cute harmless little deer enters the picture.
The doe clearly has a bad taste in her mouth for anything canine. I the cycle of wildlife, coyote often prey on the young fawns that are somewhat helpless when left unattended. But if there's a mama doe around you can bet a weeks wages that the predator will get a real good fight from the does. Now after viewing this several times it's apparent that this doe has had it's fill with the coyotes and is exacting it's revenge of the small boxer she mistook for a coyote and/or wolf.
