It's been said, "the mosquitoes in Texas are the size chihuahuas" unlike the dog their bite is worse than their bark. Recently, Texas Tech researchers blamed complacency and apathy for the recent outbreak of West Nile virus in the United States. Several cases were reported right here in the Lone star State and nationwide there has been 66 fatalities related to West Nile. "The virus is here and it appears it may have mutated" says Steve Presley a disease researcher at the Institute of Environmental and Human Health at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Why is it that Mondays always seem to be the same? Computer problems, co-workers calling in sick, equipment malfunctions, last minute surprise meetings and the little anger monster lurking around our shoulders just waiting to send things into a downward spiral. So if your Mondays start off or end the same, here's a video that will help put things into perspective. I recommend, instead of a violent temper tantrum try running to the store for a soda, the doughnut store, the ice-cream shop, your favorite fast food place for a shake or float and remember that destroying your computer just might help you find the unemployment line. These guys are way over the top, while I watch this I'm left wondering what exactly went so wrong? Is the computer the real problem or are our employers to blame for the added stress?

It's true, happy people do live longer, 35% longer to be exact. In the study that followed those being researched for 20 years, the study revealed that people with a more positive outlook on life and had healthy positive relationships with their spouses, children, family and friends fared far better than those who were slightly more cynical and had little to no relationships with close family and friends. The study that was published in Tuesday's National Academy of Sciences.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is an activist group that is wanting the public to boycott "Johnson & Johnson" because of trace amounts of chemicals in their Baby Shampoo and other products that could cause cancer in children. The group has been pushing this agenda for 2 1/2 years now filing their first request with the company in 2009. Johnson & Johnson say they are phasing out the chemicals in their products.

This story struck me as a little over the top when I first heard about it. Actually I thought this particular medicine had already been pulled years ago due to related deaths using the product. Primatene mist along with a few others will be phased out because the propellent used in the products contain CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons) which are bad for the environment.

New Study Says Impulsive People Weigh More

We all know eating too much and moving too little can add a little extra around the waist. But can your personality lead to weight gain too?

A new study published by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology says it’s possible.

Three researchers from the US Department of Health and Human Services followed nearly 2,000 people over a 50-year life span and found those who were more impulsive were likely to be about 24 pounds heavier than those who weren’t. They also found that subjects who weren’t terribly friendly may experience “a greater increase in the Body Mass Index across the adult life span.”
