Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has announced that she will resign from Congress this week to continue her recuperation from the brain injury she suffered when she was shot in the head early last year in a rampage that left six people dead.

Last night, in Tucson, one year after she was nearly fatally shot in the head at a public event, Representative Gabrielle Giffords read the pledge of allegiance to an audience of thousands gathered at the University of Arizona for a candlelight vigil to mark the anniversary of her shooting.

In a new book, ‘Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope,’ Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her astronaut husband Mark Kelly detail the intensive therapy and psychological struggles the Arizona Democrat has endured after surviving an attempt on her life early this year. After all of the struggles and hardships, however, Giffords declares that she will indeed return to Congress.

This is something I have wondered about for some time now. Giffords was able to attend her husbands Shuttle launch, multiple times, so I wondered how she looked.  Remember she was shot in the head.

Finally Space Shuttle Endeavour launches!!  Mark Kelly,husband of Arizona Congress Woman Gabrielle Giffords, is commanding the flight.  Gabby was on hand to watch the launch from Cape Canaveral Florida after suffering a gunshot wound in January.

The shuttle launch is coming up Friday and Gabrielle Giffords husband Commander Mark Kelly will be on board.  Gabrielle will be watching from the launch site in Florida.
