I was doing a little Facebook surfing today, when I saw a video that one of my friends posted on their page called 'No Second Chances'. Basically it's a reenactment of a fatal crash caused by two factors - someone pulling out in front of someone else, and speeding. Best Cars For Driving In Ice & Snow [VIDEO]

Now that the bad winter weather is upon us, I'll have to admit that I'm a little scared to say the least. With a real cold front on the horizon and icy conditions being threatened, I am having issues with not having the right vehicle. During the last bad ice and snow storm I got stuck, twice. While the rest of the world can take a couple days off, I must still go to the station and keep everyone updated on the 'bad weather.' Now I'm still in the market for a vehicle that can pass the grade, if there is one.

In response to the National Transportation Safety Board-proposed ban on cellphones while driving, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers tried to defend hands-free devices. They’re “designed to be used in a way that helps drivers keep their eyes on the road,” they said, but now it looks like this defense doesn’t hold water.

US Government Agency Begs to End Cell Phone Use While Driving — Health Check

Studies about the dangers of using a cell device while driving have produced mixed results — some say talking or texting behind the wheel can increase the odds of a crash exponentially, while others say the perils are few.

Regardless, the National Transportation Safety Board is so convinced of the dangers of “distracted driving” that it’s now called for a nationwide ban on non-emergency cell phone use while driving. Even hands-free devices are not excluded.
