Christy an Animal Control Officer said "Suzie was an owner turn in, simply because the owner could no longer afford to feed herself let along her dog too. So after eight years Susie's owner brought her here to the Animal Control Shelter. She needs to go to a good home."

Since the original story appeared in January, several cities remain as finalists in the 'Pedigree Pet Food Feeding Project.' they are Wausau WI, Erie PA, Detroit/Flint MI, Jackson MS and Jacksonville FL. The two winning communities are in the process of being determined and will be announced in the coming weeks. I'll keep you posted as to who the winners are.

Kramer is a super sweet little guy that only weighs 22 pounds. He's a tan and white Cardigan Welsh Corgi mix, with all the right markings and the most awesome personality to match. Larry with the Animal Control Shelter says "Kramer came in as a stray with no tags and was never recovered by his original owners, but I can tell this is someones expensive house dog. I'm not for sure but I believe he could be house broken, you just never know." Kramer is sweet but very lonely.

Friday during the big "Emergency Adoption" at Claclaw and Southwest Drive, Handsome Jack was adopted by a loving family. While the names of the adopting family are not available, a huge thank you goes to them. Jack only had the weekend left on his life card, as do so many of the other animals at the adoption. There's still time to adopt during the huge "Emergency Adoption." I'll be standing on the corner of that busy intersection by my doghouse bringing attention to these homeless animals. Please Help.

A couple of weeks ago Paul Washburn with Rescue the Animals and Aaron Vannoy Animal Services Manager for the City of Abilene approached me with the idea of me living in that over-sized doghouse again, to draw attention to the unwanted animals at area shelters. I thought about it for a minute and said yes. The reason for me doing it again is simple, we are so close to setting an all time record for animals adopted here in Abilene that I'd hate to miss setting a new record while saving more pets.
