St. Jude Celebrates 50 Years of Fighting and Curing Cancer [VIDEO]
February 14, 2012 Founder Danny Thomas saw his life long dream of starting a hospital for children, become a reality fifty years ago. Who would have ever thought, when the first cancer patient walked through the doors of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, that an entertainer and his Doctor friends would find a way to cure certain types of cancer. The year was 1962 and the disease was acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cure percentage-rate was less than 4%. Fast forward 50 years, it's the same disease only the cure rate is right at 96%. It's time we all pitched into cure all other types of cancers.
