A few weeks ago we heard the news that NBC and Dick Wolf's slow-spreading 'Chicago Fire' had its eye on a potential spin-off, with recent buzz suggesting the show would likely go to series within the near future. Now, the proposed spinoff has begun adding to its cast, recruiting former 'LOST' star Tania Raymonde and Scott Eastwood (yep, that Eastwood) for the as-yet-untitled series, but will it prove as hot as its predecessor?

When it was announced that Clint Eastwood might be directing Beyonce Knowles in the third remake of 'A Star is Born,' it seemed likely that the film was destined to win all the Oscars. Then word came that Leonardo DiCaprio might be the male lead. Money in the bank. Now Beyonce has left the project, there's currently no male lead attached and the project looks dead in the water.

My wife doesn't follow movie news and is impervious to advertising. "What is this, a baseball movie?" she asked as we settled in for 'Trouble with the Curve.' "Kinda," I said. "Clint's a gruff baseball scout, out on the road with his estranged daughter." "Uh-oh," she chimed as the lights dimmed. "Life lessons!"

Life lessons indeed, and they come at you with the subtlety of an aluminum bat cranking a deep line drive. Clint, craggier than ever, begins each day arguing with his prostate, eating junk food and rooting through a stack of papers reporting high school and college score results. "He's the last scout in the majors who doesn't use a computer!" they muse at the Braves' home office. Nasty, conniving Matthew Lillard means it in a bad way, while John Goodman looks fondly upon Clint's old fashioned ways.

Oh SNAP! Everyone’s been going crazy about Clint Eastwood’s speech at the Republican National Convention last night, in which he addressed an empty chair as though Barack Obama were seated in it. Jokes were made. Rallying cries were … cried. It was pretty much Twitter insanity. One joke stands above the rest when all is said and done though — this picture, posted by Barack Obama’s official Twitter profile, along with the accompanying text “This seat’s taken.”

Clint Eastwood isn’t exactly known for romances, either as an actor or as a director, so when word surfaced that he was planning to helm a remake of ‘A Star Is Born’ with Tim McGraw as a possible star, people naturally wanted to know more. We’ve heard plenty of the rumors as well, including the reported involvement (and subsequent un-involvement) of Beyoncé Knowles and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Little has been made official, however, so you can hardly blame the hosts of NBC’s ‘Today’ for trying to pry the scoop from McGraw during an interview.
