Ray Stevens is at it again with his new song 'Red Hot Chili Cookoff.' It's pretty funny if you ask me, because I competed for many years in the Ben Richey Boys Ranch Chili Cookoff. Now as I recall, we were always being asked by visitors "is your chili hot?" And in my best Texas accent I would reply "Why of course it's hot, that's what it's supposed to be chili, hot!" It never failed though, those foreigners from far away places like Kansas, New York, or California would end up judging. Kiwanis Club of Abilene Chili Day and Auction is Scheduled for February 23rd

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Abilene will hold their 57th annual Chili Day and Auction on Saturday, February 23, at the Abilene Civic Center. The Kiwanis take much pride in the fact that they donate monies and assist many local charities with the resources raised for the Chili Day and Auction.To purchase tickets to the event, simply ask a Kiwanis Club member or get them at the door.

Chili Super Bowl XXXI is upon us this Labor Day weekend. All the fun and festivities are taking place at the old settlers camp grounds in beautiful, downtown Buffalo Gap, Texas America. If you have never attended, you're in for a real treat, (some words of advise) come hungry, wear old comfortable shoes. Bring the kids cause they're welcomed too.

Every year, at Boys Ranch Chili (Super) Bowl time, my daughters start asking "dad, are you cooking some of your award winning chili?" The answer is always "yes", because it's tradition. Like Christmas trees and Easter egg hunts, some things never change. Labor Day weekend is designated "Chili Cook Off Weekend" nothing else goes better with Labor Day than a bowl of my 'Dragon's Breath Chili'.
