Jennifer Nettles, half of the superstar country duo Sugarland, recently unveiled the first public photo of her 5-month-old son, Mangus Hamilton, much to the delight of her fans. Now, she has opened up about her happy, blue-eyed baby and how her venture into motherhood is going.

According to a People article that she tweeted, Nettles is obviously head over heels in love with her little guy, and says, "I'm so proud of this little person!" The 38-year-old mama adds, "I was a happy baby and so is he. He's super sweet." It's not hard to imagine the smiley singer as anything but a happy baby, and she's probably relieved that she passed that temperament along.

Although the article (with another adorable photo!) attributes Magnus' baby blues to his father, Justin Miller, the songstress cleared things up, saying, "Here's a new shot of Magnus and me, but just to be accurate those baby blues were from his grandfathers. Lucky boy!"

It sounds like being a new mama has given her a whole new outlook. While she's used to being glammed up for red carpet events and road shows, the 'Stuck Like Glue' hitmaker lets her sense of humor shine as she states, "There is a reason why sleep deprivation is the first level of torture," adding, "I've learned the finer points of how many ways to wear a ponytail."

As far as giving her baby any siblings, the singer keeps it open-ended, and admits, "I'm totally open, but let's start with one and see where the universe takes us!" It sounds like Nettles and her husband are off to a great start in parenthood, and they're enjoying it one day at a time.
