Everything is indeed a little bit bigger in Texas. Including wallets, apparently.

The dating website SugarDaddie.com has offered the town of Sugar Land, Texas $4.65 million to change its name to “SugarDaddie.com, USA” for the next 10 years. SugarDaddie.com is a site designed to connect wealthy older men with younger women – translation: gold-diggers – so they know a thing or two about recklessly spending money like it’s still the 1980s.

Sugar Land, TX Mayor James A. Thompson spurned the initial $500,000 offer, but SugarDaddie.com didn’t take rejection too well and upped the ante – way up. Guess those old dudes feel the need to prove they can get it up by increasing the take to the current offer: nearly $5 million.

SugarDaddie CEO Steven Pasternack tried to rationalize the complete waste of funds:

We are very serious about branding the city and giving birth to the first dating site-sponsored city in America. We thought it would be a great way to get the word out about our 10-year anniversary, and to be a permanent part of the Great State of Texas.”

If the deal does go through, all the landmarks in town would be rebranded to have SugarDaddie.com on them. Presumably, the city would also see an influx of middle-aged men with bad comb overs driving Corvettes.

Despite the new offer, SugarDaddie.com shouldn’t hold its breath because the town, located outside Houston, is pretty affluent as is. Mayor Thompson said, “We have an assessed value of over $10 billion in our city — I think it’s very clever marketing on their part.”

And like any good sugar daddy, Pasternack isn’t going to sit on his laurels if things don’t work out in Texas. He says his company is thinking about possibly making offers in Sugar City, Colorado, Sugar Creek, Missouri and other sugar-based towns. He said, “We are hell-bent on creating the first dating site-sponsored city in America.” Daddy knows best, right? Ew.
