Paramount has released the fourth and final trailer for Star Trek Beyond ahead of the film’s July 22 release, and if early word is to be believed (and we think it is), you have every reason to be optimistic about the new sequel. Shorter, punchier and more action-packed than the first three previews, the latest and last trailer may be the best of the bunch, and if nothing else, it looks like Justin Lin was definitely the right pick to replace J.J. Abrams in the director’s chair.

The new trailer offers a bit of everything: Humor, action, an intriguing new villain played by Idris Elba and a kickass alien ally played by Sofia Boutella. Plus there’s a little of that signature cynicism we’ve come to know and love from Karl Urban’s Bones. Reviews are already in for the third installment in the franchise, which some critics have compared to classic episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series — sounds like co-writer Simon Pegg delivered on his promise of taking the franchise back to its more adventurous roots.

“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

Beyond hasn’t even hit theaters yet and Paramount has already officially confirmed plans for Star Trek 4, with Chris Hemsworth set to return as George Kirk, the father of Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk. That’s certainly interesting, but we’ll see just how exciting a prospect it is when Star Trek Beyond hits theaters this weekend.
