Namco Bandai is set to release their free-to-play fighter, SoulCalibur: Lost Swords, on the PlayStation Network soon. The latest trailer for the game features the return of a character who was thought to be dead.

That's right, Athenian warrior woman Sophitia is making her scantily-clad return, armed with her shield and gladius. Fan favorites Siegfried the knight and Mitsurugi the samurai are also making their return, but these are the only three confirmed characters for the free-to-play title.

According to an article on Joystiq, Producer Masaaki Hoshino confirmed that the game would run on a new version of the SoulCalibur 5 engine. Hoshino, through a translator, said, "The game system itself is quite different, it's been more streamlined and simplified so that people can more easily perform flashy, over-the-top maneuvers." From the looks of the footage above, there are plenty of flashy maneuvers to go around.

We'll update you when word of the release date for Lost Swords is announced. Until then, check out the trailer above for a look at Sophitia's return.
