In the dual spirit of Halloween and extremely bad taste, someone recently attempted to sell a lifelike latex mask of accused Aurora theater shooter James Holmes on eBay.

However, the listing was not up very long because representatives of the online auction site say that as soon as they were made aware of what the seller was trying to do, the listing was immediately removed due to its failure to comply with the company policy banning the sale of offensive materials. "Out of respect for victims of violent crimes, eBay does not allow listings that attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering," eBay told ABC News.

The seller’s listing, which had a $500 reserve stated: “There is nothing more scary than crawling into James Holmes mind and wearing his face. His 'soul penetrating eyes' and 'The Joker' orange hair makes this mask the most disturbing object you will ever own. Imagine owning the mask of supposedly the most dangerous mass murderer in U.S. history.”

No bids were placed on the mask prior to the listing's removal.
