This update is bittersweet because Pugsi the super sweet Pug mix was not exactly adopted, Pugsi was taken over by a Pug rescue group from the Dallas Fort Worth area. Aaron Vannoy Animal Shelter Director said "the DFW Pug rescue group had contacted me earlier this month and asked that I hold Pugsi until they could come to Abilene to transfer him to the DFW Metro-plex, they did so earlier this week. I'm sure they will have better luck finding a loving home for this friendly little guy."

Texas music artist Curtis Grimes stopped by KEAN today during my morning show to bring me his new single titled "Home To Me." At first I thought, I'll take his C.D. and give it a listen, and he'd be on his way. He was heading to Lubbock and Amarillo on his whirl-wind "radio tour" doing what he called "pimping my new record." When something caught my eye in the back of his car, the boy brought his guitar. Good enough for me I quickly asked if he would bring in his guitar.

Oklahoma native Blake Shelton has begun organizing a benefit fundraiser concert to help his fellow Oklahoma residents that were devastated by the tornado last Monday. The Voice coach and Male Vocalist of the Year promised he would call in favors from fellow country artists and friends in the business to make this happen. Blake is not alone either, he will be assisted by the network that hosts The Voice, NBC promises to televise the event nationally.

Several Abilene area businesses are teaming up to raise money and supplies for the people of Moore Oklahoma. Kandon Culberson Operations Supervisor for Con-Way Freight has been in constant contact with Moore city officials and volunteers. Culberson said "what the organizers in Moore told me they really need is money, water, bedding plus a host of other supplies to help them start the clean up and rebuild of their city. We were given a pretty big list." The donation drive begins at 7:00am this Saturday May, 25th at United Supermarket parking lot at 3301 South 14th Street South in the River Oaks Village.

For the past 24 years Abilene has been home to the Texas High School State Finals Rodeo, where the top high school rodeo athletes come to compete. Over 650 athletes come from all over the Lone Star State for three reasons, the right to be called "State Champions," a chance to go on to the National High School Finals Rodeo and scholarship money. The public is invited to come and support these young cowboys and cowgirls competing at the Taylor County Expo Center June 9th through the 15th.

This years two day "Swingin' Tex-Fest" to benefit the Ben Richey Boys Ranch will feature some new talent and some familiar names like Mark Powell and Lariat. The big news is, the change of venue, last year "Swingin' Tex-Fest" was held at the Taylor County Fairgrounds. This year Swingin' Tex-Fest organizers have moved the event to the newly opened "Back Porch of Texas" located near the I-20 and Highway 83/84 intersection. Check out who all is coming.

While all other entries into the summer of 2013 theme songs are somewhat "novelty" songs. Watson sets himself apart by the style and content of  his new song titled "Summertime Girl". It's a more serious, more grounded song, with a more mature theme.

This ceremony will honor all veterans and will feature Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Robert J. Strader as the events guest speaker. Veterans, their families and friends are all encouraged to attend this special event.

While Keith Urban's future as an American Idol judge may be in question, It appears the the country crooner knows exactly what he wants out of life. Although it sounds a little confusing at first, I believe I get it in the end. Urban doesn't need much of nothing, but rather a little bit of everything. Keith says he wants something strong to drink, a box of Cuban cigars to smoke and a cool chick to cook and dance for him. I'm sure the later is not a jab at his movie star wife, Nicole Kidman (I just can't imagine her in a kitchen cooking fried chicken.)

Luke Bryan released what will surely become the official summer anthem of 2013. The song called "Just A Sip" is an all out party song that has one looking forward to the weekend, with the promise of a sip of beer or whiskey to expedite the journey. The video on the other hand was shot during a single event, Luke Bryan's concert in Panama City, Florida during spring break earlier this year. There's not a lot of real "substance" to this video, just a lot of college students in bathing suits, drinking and just having a good time jamming to Luke's music.
