Is it easier to find a gift for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day?

A survey of nearly 1,100 people has found that two-thirds of people worry more about what to get their mom for Mother’s Day than what gift they’ll give their dad for Father’s Day.

(SOMETIMES) SPENDING THE BIG BUCKS

According to the survey, 42% of people have no qualms about coughing up as much as $40 for their mothers, while 22% say they’ll spend between $41 and $60. A rather well-off and appreciative 23% will drop at least $61. Then, there’s the 10% who have no intention of giving their mothers a gift this year. Really, no gift? For your mom, who brought you into this world? Better hope the karma police aren’t patrolling.

WHAT TO GIVE

The most popular present for mothers shouldn’t come as a surprise: flowers, with 27% going that route. Another 18% will express their gratitude to their mothers through gift card, 7% will offer up jewelry and 2% will present them with a spa day.

HOW TO SAY ‘HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY’

Most children seem to realize their presence makes the best gift, since 52% will wish their moms a Happy Mother’s Day in person. Twenty-three percent will give their mothers a phone call and 15% will send a card.

SIGNIFICANT OTHERS DO THEIR PART, TOO

Spouses also get into the fray on Mother’s Day by giving gifts. The most popular present is a nice meal (22%,), followed by flowers (18%), gift cards and jewelry (both 12%).
