Scotty McCreery has some very unique challenges when it comes to planning his tour schedule. As a full-time college student  at North Carolina State, the platinum-selling country star doesn't get a lot of free time outside of weekends, and spring break. So, as the 'American Idol' Season 10 winner hits the road this February, he's fittingly named it the 'Weekend Roadtrip Tour'.

Since opening for Brad Paisley went so well, Scotty is now headlining for the first time in his career. The string of concerts kicks of on Valentine's Day in Bethlehem, PA, and the 16-date tour runs through May. Up-and-comer Sarah Darling will serve as McCreery's opening act.

The name 'Weekend Roadtrip Tour' is fitting, since McCreery's tour is only being scheduled for show on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights. This fits his school schedule. The 'Idol' winner really is striking while the iron is hot with his music career, even if it means burning the candle at both ends. The 19-year old said in a press conference:

"Right now, I'm balancing my music career with my second semester at North Carolina State University. I go to school early in the week and get to play my music every weekend. So, calling this tour the 'Weekend Roadtrip Tour' just made sense. Plus, what college student doesn't love a good road trip?"

On the 'Weekend Roadtrip Tour', expect to hear a lot of new material from McCreery, as he plans to play selections from his forthcoming album, the follow up to his debut CD, 'Clear as Day'. Scotty has given no word if there are plans to continue the tour into the summer at this time.
