Scotty McCreery is a diehard Patriots fan, so it only makes sense that he'll be performing the National Anthem when they play at the American Football Conference Divisional Playoff Game on Jan. 16.

The game airs live on CBS at 4:35PM ET and puts reigning Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots against the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

“My Dad, who was raised in New England, instilled a love of the New England Patriots in me from birth,” McCreery says in a press release. “I was at the Super Bowl last year when they won – maybe that makes me their good luck charm. I cannot wait to sing in Gillette Stadium and then cheer the Patriots on to another victory!”

Last year, McCreery also performed for the Patriots and their guests at their “Welcome to Arizona Party.” So maybe he really is their lucky charm!

On May 3, the country singer will release his first book, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream. The book will highlight McCreery's story, starting with his childhood in Garner, N.C., to winning American Idol in 2011 as well as releasing two studio albums.

“God gave me a voice and America gave me a chance,” McCreery explains. “This book is about those two things.”
