Scotty McCreery appeared in many people's homes week after week while he was a contestant on American Idol. But imagine his surprise when one of his fans showed up at McCreery's house!

“I’ve had a fan drive from Maine down to North Carolina and was banging on my door,” McCreery recently told Fox411 at the American Country Countdown Awards. “It’s a little creepy, but that just speaks to the passion. I’m not endorsing coming to my door but I love the passion.”

McCreery adds that in addition to passionate, country music fans are very loyal. “Country fans are loyal,” he admits. “They stuck by me from day one in 2011. We are still out on the road and they come to our shows.”

The "Southern Belle" singer is currently on the road promoting his first book, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream. The book tour launches Tuesday (May 3), in Ridgewood, N.J., and ends in McCreery's hometown of Garner, N.C. on May 14, where the singer will then participate in a Q&A and performance.

Go Big or Go Home is McCreery’s story in his own words. It focuses on his life, career and faith. The book details the beginning of his life with his childhood in Garner, N.C., his time spent on American Idol and winning the reality television singing competition in 2011 as well as the singer releasing two studio albums.

“God gave me a voice and America gave me a chance,” McCreery says in a press release. “This book is about those two things."
