Rosie O’Donnell Compares Lindsay Lohan to Whitney Houston (And That’s Not a Compliment)

Surprisingly, Lindsay Lohan is proving to be the bigger person after Rosie O’Donnell questioned Lohan’s casting in an upcoming Liz Taylor biopic. Just because it’s hard to find a picture of Lohan where she isn’t accompanied by some sort of law enforcement personnel doesn’t mean she can’t have a “grown-up” moment, every now and then.

The mini-feud started when O’Donnell appeared on Tuesday’s ‘Today’ show, commenting on Lohan’s ability to portray the iconic actress in Lifetime’s Elizabeth Taylor/Richard Burton biopic, ‘Liz & Dick.’

“The last thing she did good she was 16… I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point of doing what’s needed,” said O’Donnell, whose own career is a bit shaky after her OWN talk show was axed last month.

When asked about O’Donnell’s remarks by ‘Access Hollywood,’ Lohan’s response was surprisingly measured, thinking back on her younger years, when both she and O’Donnell’s careers were much healthier.

“You know, I did one of my first interviews with her when I was little. I was so excited…(O’Donnell) should base her opinions when she meets someone.”

On whether or not she’s capable of doing right by Liz Taylor, Lohan brought up her relationship with the late actress.

“I know that I’m great… I know Liz Taylor really well and we shared some makeup artists… same hairstylist, we’ve worked with a lot of the same people. She sent me a ring at one point in my life, from her House of Taylor Costume Collection. I’m really lucky to be able to do this role and I just want to honor her the way that she should be honored, because she’s helped a lot of people in her life.”

A modest and mature response from the twenty-five-year old that should have shut O’Donnell up. But another appearance on this morning’s ‘Today’ show gave the comedian a second chance to cast aspersions on Lohan. And this time she dragged the late Whitney Houston into the foray.

“Listen, I’m 50 years old, and watching Whitney Houston’s funeral I remember thinking why didn’t more people say what they knew. We all knew…but to look at Lindsay Lohan you cannot help but feel for her. I do not think she’s untalented. I think she’s quite talented.”

O’Donnell may have a point but why criticize Lohan for actually attempting to get her career back on track? For once, I think I’m forced to go “Team Lohan” on this one.
