Rodney Crowell Has a ‘Health Scare’, Forced to Cancel Texas Dates [VIDEO]
Country singer Rodney Crowell had to pay a visit to a Nashville emergency room with what is only being described as a ‘health scare’. There are few details at this point, but we know he has been forced to cancel several concerts in Texas over the next couple of weeks.
Here’s the original post from Crowell’s official Facebook page:
Hi, everyone. Joanne [Gardner, with Rodney Crowell Management] here. Rodney feels fine – but certainly didn’t there for a bit. We’re hoping caution and thoroughness will give Captain Invincible the ability to get back out there without any concern. This was our last tour of the year and Rodney was so looking forward to seeing everyone in TX. Agents are already working on rescheduling shows. I will send on all your good wishes.
Tuesday morning, Rodney’s performing partner, Mary Karr posted this message on her official Facebook page:
Brother Rodney Crowell had a health scare with an emergency room visit in Nashville and is, therefore, canceling this month’s dates in Texas. I have spoken to Captain Invincible himself, and he is feeling fine, taking care of bidness by laying low. The Texas dates will all be rescheduled. Take yr vitamins, Rodney….
By the sound of the message, it doesn’t seem to be anything too severe, but the fact that this month’s dates in Texas are canceled say that Rodney is in for a somewhat lengthy recovery. Crowell’s people say he is doing fine, but the next two weeks will be spent undergoing tests in order to resume his hectic tour schedule. Here is a list of Crowell’s canceled shows:
Wednesday, Nov 7 – The Blue Light, Lubbock, TX
Thursday, Nov 8 – The Lumberyard, Roscoe, TX
Friday, Nov 9 – Firehouse Saloon, Houston, TX
Saturday, Nov 10 – Hank’s Texas Grill, McKinney, TX
Tuesday, Nov 13 – Cendera Center, Fort Worth, TX
Wednesday, Nov 14 – Antone’s Austin, TX
Thursday, Nov 15 – Grand Stafford Theater, Bryan, TX
Friday, Nov 16 – Sam’s Burger Joint, San Antonio, TX
Saturday, Nov 17 – The Barn, Nacogdoches, TX
Rodney Crowell is best known for having a string of country hits in the late 80′s through the early 90′s. His string of five straight #1 hits in 1988-89 were all songs from his album ‘Diamonds and Dirt’, and included a duet, ‘It’s Such a Small World’ performed with his then-wife, Rosanne Cash.
Crowell’s newest work is titled ‘Kin: Songs by Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell’. Check out our album review here. Join us in wishing Rodney a speedy and full recovery.
