Legendary songwriter and performer Rodney Crowell has unveiled a new retrospective album, Acoustic Classics, which will feature some of the most beloved hits of his career alongside a couple more recent tracks. Many of the songs included in the project originally achieved popularity through their recordings by country stars such as Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, the Oak Ridge Boys, Bob Seger, Tim McGraw and many other country artists.

"With the help of some of my favorite musicians, I've made all-acoustic instrument recordings of ten of my most recognizable songs," Crowell says in a press release. "Also included are a couple more recently written that I want people to hear. There's even a revised version of my most commercially successful song, "Shame on the Moon'.....all in good fun."

Although his most well-known contribution to country music may be the hits he has penned for other artists, Crowell is a prolific performer in his own right, who has released six of his own albums over the past decade. Acoustic Classics is also set to be the first release from his own brand-new imprint, RC1. With a roster of titles such as songwriter, musician, poet and author already under his belt, Crowell will take on the role of label head with the release of his upcoming project. Acoustic Classics also features performances from Bernie Taupin and Benmont Trench.

Acoustic Classics is slotted for release on July 13, but fans can purchase pre-order bundles, including vinyl, at Crowell's website. Hot on the heels of the album's release, Crowell will host the annual Adventures in Song songwriting camp from July 16-20 at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Carmel, Calif. For more details, go here.
