Re-Discovery of the Cupcake [VIDEO]

I have found a new indulgence that I absolutely crave at times; the cupcake. I have been diving into the white cupcakes from United over the last couple of months. I don't know why but I have to have one or six every week or so. They are delicious and I'm apparently not the only one that likes cupcakes. It's a whole new craze.

I didn't know their was a TV show called Cupcake Wars on Food Network until a few weeks ago. I was at my boyfriends parents and his mom loves the show, had it on and I got to watching. They had to make cupcakes for all ages. One for kids, teens and adults. Some of their recipes included alcohol and more than one included BACON.

Now I'm not sure a cupcake made with bacon would be good but they looked good nonetheless. Now me, I prefer just a plain yellow cupcake piled high with sweet icing.

It seems a number of folks are even leaving their current jobs to start cupcake companies. One woman was a practicing lawyer but left the stress behind to make sweet treats that make people happy. There are cupcake trucks that travel around cities providing much needed sugar highs to folks on the run. Now I don't think I'll be leaving my job to do this,even though there is a lot of money to be made, as I like eating them much more than baking them.

Where is your favorite place to get cupcakes here in Abilene? What is your favorite type of cupcake?
