Oldest Woman to Scale Mount Everest Scales Mount Everest Again

You can’t keep a good woman down. Apparently, neither can the mighty Mount Everest.
Tamae Watanabe, 73, of Japan broke the world record by becoming the oldest woman in history to climb the world’s highest mountain. She decided that breaking the world record once wasn’t good enough for her. So she climbed it again.
Her first attempt was in 2003 when (for you math majors out there) she was 63-year-old. Her latest attempt was accomplished Saturday morning with four fellow members of the China Tibet Mountaineering Association, according to USA Today.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t make her the oldest person to scale the mighty mountain. That honor goes to Min Bahadur Sherchan of Nepal who scaled the mountain in 2009 at the age of 76.
This bit of news is quite inspiring. It ALMOST makes us want to put on pants and go outside.
