Guess who finally got to go home for the Holidays? Nina the Spaniel mix! She was finally adopted this past Saturday when the Abilene Animal Shelter and other rescue organizations held an 'emergency pet rescue' on the busiest shopping weekend of the year. I was overcome with joy when Animal Services Manager Aaron Vannoy informed me of Nina's good fortune. Thank you to everyone that shared and/or re-posted these KEAN Critter blogs, I will forever be grateful and a big thanks goes out to Nina's new family. May you all have a joyous Holiday season.

Please Help us save Nina.

This young (one year old) Brittany Spaniel mix is very smart, cute and she is extremely lovable. From the minute I entered the room I saw Nina sit right up and she made and kept eye contact with me the whole time. To me the 'eye contact' means only one thing, Nina is a highly intelligent dog that wants to serve. This little black and white spaniel mix was a stray and her owners never came to pick her up. Now, her time is up Nina has until the end of this week Nov. 17th, that is when she is scheduled to be put down.

Alex (a shelter employee), my wife Donna and daughter Angie all played with Nina and I got to see Nina wag her tail and have fun with everyone. When back inside her kennel Nina seemed sad again, so I know that these critters have feelings. Somehow I believe that they also know what impending doom awaits them. I mean, how could they not know one minute she's happy and the minute you start walking toward the shelter entrance Nina was very hesitant to go back in. Every time I walk in that place I get cold chills and I guess it's just me but I know what happens to so many of them that don't find a home.

So please go to the Shelter today, look at Nina and all the other beautiful critters that need you and me to save them. Nina's been at the shelter too long and this is absolutely her last chance to live and what's really sad is, that this little girl has only lived one year. Now if you can help, here's all the information on Nina this KEAN Critter, Please help.
