Recently, Washington Redskins QB, Rex Grossman, boldly predicted that the Washington Redskins will win the NFC East – something they haven’t done since 1999. So, that got me thinking, who WILL win the NFC East this year? In a division that has been one of the toughest in the NFL, it’s always hard to tell, but I don’t think it will be the ‘Skins. Honestly, I am picking the Eagles to win as sort of a reverse psychology trick because I truly want my Cowboys to win the division. I just think that the Eagles are in “win now” mode and proved that point by signing a crap load of notable free agents. The Eagles have signed Steve Smith from the Giants, Ronnie Brown from the Dolphins, Donald Lee from the Packers, ex-Titan Jason Babin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie from Arizona, and Nnamdi Asomugha from the Raiders to just name a few. Now, the level of talent has been raised, but as a Cowboy fan, I know all too well how a talented team doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic winning season. However, with Michael Vick at the helm, and an already lethal team in place, the new additions could propel the Eagles to the top of the NFC East this year.

The Cowboys had a horrible year last year after having such high expectations. Of course, high expectations are the norm for any Cowboys fan, but I truly thought last year was the year. Then again, I thought the year before that was the year – the year before that year, etc. Romo was hurt after the 5th game last year, but I thought the year was over even before that. This year, the Cowboys didn’t make much of a splash in the free agent market. Instead, they sort of took out the trash by getting rid of Roy Williams, Marion Barber and Leonard Davis among a few others. After Wade Phillips was fired, the Cowboys looked sharper and more of a disciplined team. In fact, after Jason Garrett took over, they went 8-5 for the rest of the 2010 season. The talent is still there for ‘the boys’ and I think they will definitely be a contender to win the NFC East.

The past two years, the Giants have started off strong, but then have had a crappy second half the past two seasons. They have had plenty of talent, but plenty of letdowns as well and I honestly don’t think that Eli Manning is that good of a quarterback. The Giants finished 10-6 last year, however, only two of those wins came against playoff teams last year. I think that fact, coupled with the fact that they have a pretty tough schedule this year will have the New York football Giants at the bottom of the NFC East this year.

I hate the Redskins. Always have. Always will. Ever since I was a kid I have hated them. As I mentioned above, Rex Grossman has predicted that they will win the NFC East. I think Rex needs to put the crack pipe down. The ‘Skins were horrible last year, the year before that and the year before that. They have not won the NFC East since 1999. Their defense was flat out embarrassing last year as they were ranked 31st in the league. The offense will not help them this year as they don’t even have a “real” quarterback. Rex Grossman and unknown John Beck will battle for the starting job. That will be like watching grass grow I’m sure. I give Washington 3 wins max this year – and that’s a stretch. It will be lonely for the ‘Skins this year at the bottom of the NFC East. Where, in my opinion, they belong. Oh yeah, true Cowboys fans should remember the commercial featuring Tom Landry for American Express. I included it in one of the links below.
