I almost bought the book the other day but I didn't.  Now I don't know if I should read the book first or just go see the movie.  The book and movie of the same name is 'The Help" written by Kathryn Stockett takes place in the 60's and is written by a white woman who takes an interest in the black maids stories, she decides to tell the story not from her point of view but from theirs, the maids.  Those stories include mistreatment,

abuse, child rearing, gossip, race relations all taking place in the 60's in Mississippi before the civil rights movement.

The book is getting rave reviews from those who have read it.  I know that usually the book is better than the movie since so much more detail can be given in a book.  So I think I may read it first then see the movie, but it's going to be hard since the movie comes out Wednesday.  Hopefully, I can practice patience and hold off on seeing it!

Here is the movie trailer.  It looks serious, funny, tear-jerking, tender, mean, strong, uplifting all rolled into one.  You see a glimpse of all the main characters.  From the uptight white woman, to the strong and defiant black woman.  The writer and her love for these woman and their plight.  She gives us a peak into what these women went through, the secrets they kept and the mental and verbal abuse they withstood.

If you've already read this book let me know what you thought. Book first or just go see the movie?
