Neal McCoy's father, Hubert, died early Saturday morning (March 25). The country singer shared the news during his daily Pledge of Allegiance on Facebook, adding that the family is prepared for hard times ahead, but at peace knowing he's in a better place.

McCoy delivered the news in his usual upbeat manner, thanking fans for their thoughts and prayers. His Facebook video came just one hour after Huber Neal "Pete" McGaughey died. A cause of death has not been released. The 86-year-old's obituary was first published in the Tyler Morning Telegraph (Texas), where McGaughey lived. He was a life-long Texan, born in Jacksonville.

McCoy has commented that he never saw his father in a bad mood — something one could say about the singer, as well. The father and son also share a striking physical resemblance, and name. Neal McCoy is really Hubert Neal McGaughey Jr., but he developed a stage name of Neal McGoy before switching to Neal McCoy. His mother would later marry a man named Don McCoy.

In addition, McGaughey leaves behind wife Dolores (McCoy's stepmother), two more children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for March 29.
