NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip will have a very special Sandy Hook School Support Fund paint scheme on his # 26 car when the season starts at the Daytona 500 February 24th.

The two time Daytona champion is joining up with and Swan Racing, to raise awareness and contributions for the fund.  The car's number 26 also will signify the 26 kids and adults who were killed December 14th in Newtown, Connecticut.

Waltrip and NASCAR officials introduced the paint scheme today (February 14th) during media day at Daytona International Speedway. It was unveiled to the children and families of Sandy Hook in Newtown at a private event last week.

Waltrip said all three of his Michael Waltrip Racing cars also will feature a decal encouraging fans to make a $10 donation by texting "Newtown" to 80888. Money raised will go to support the healing process for the Newtown community.

Donations also can be made online at newtown.uwwesternct.org.

Here's the unveiling of the car.

We can't say enough about how cool this is that NASCAR, Swan Racing, Michael Waltrip, and others are supporting this cause.  I hope that Waltrip wins the Daytona 500 this year.
