NASCAR Racing at Texas Motor Speedway – My Experience [PICTURES]

Recently, I was able to go check out a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway.  I had a heck of a time and was able to snap some pictures. First of all, if you have never been to a NASCAR race, I strongly urge you to go check one out.  You can take  your whole family to spend the day at the track and the tailgating parties are second to none.  People bring their campers, tents and grills and set up outside the track and just hang out all day long.  Even if you don’t go for the tailgating, just seeing the race is pretty awesome.

This time around, I took my wife, my Mom and Step-father to check out all the action.  My Mom had never been to a race before and once we got down to the pit area where all the cars in the race were, she was smiling from ear to ear like a kid at Christmas time.  She really lit up when she found out who was playing the pre-race show…which was Foreigner. We hung out at the pits for a while listening to the band play as we got close to the cars.   After that, we went to our seats which were really good as you can see in the pictures below. The race began and so did my Mom’s questions about the race, the cars, and the drivers.  I didn’t mind because it was fun to be able teach her about the sport.  I was glad I was able to be there with her first racing experience.

The race itself was uneventful as far as wrecks and stuff.  In fact, TMS set a record for the least amount of caution flags with only 2.  It was a fast race as well with the average speed over 160 miles per hour with Greg Biffle taking the checkered flag. Even though my driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn’t win, it was still a very cool time.

If you have never been to a race, try to check one out.  It’s an awesome experience…especially when your able to hang out with your friends and family.  TMS has two races a season and the next one will be in November.
