Kyle Busch didn’t dominate like he does when he usually wins races, but sometimes you don’t have to when you have lady luck on your side.  That was the case at Richmond this past weekend. The Sprint Cup Series was at Richmond International Raceway for some short track racing.  The track usually produces quite a few of cautions for wrecks,  as most short track races do, but this time, there were only 5 cautions all night.

The last caution of the night proved to be the luck that Kyle Busch needed to get up front.

After leading most of the race, Tony Stewart had a 1 second lead over the field with 13 laps to go when the final caution came for debris on the track.  Kyle Busch beat Tony Stewart out of the pits to take the lead as Stewart dropped to 3rd.  The only thing left for Busch to do was to out race Dale Earnhardt Jr for the win.  That turned out to be not a problem as Jr had brake problems throughout the night and could not keep up with Busch.

The win was the first for Busch in 20 races and tied him with his brother, Kurt Busch, for 26th all time in wins at 24. Dale Earnhardt Jr finished second which put him in second place behind Greg Biffle for the points lead.
