Kasey Kahne outlasted a dominating Denny Hamlin to win the LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the weekend.

Kahne used a miscommunication between Hamlin and his crew to his advantage and hang on for the win at the 1 mile track. On lap 232, a caution came out for a blown engine.  Hamlin’s crew chief, Darian Grubb, wanted to take 2 tires but thought that he heard Hamlin say he wanted fresh tires all around.  After the miscommunication, Hamlin restarted 13th with only 62 laps left and immediately started picking off spots very quickly.  Before anyone knew it, he had climbed to 2nd place and might have beat Kahne but ran out of time.

Clint Bowyer finished third, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski to round out the top 5.

The win was Kahne’s second of the season and puts him 12th in the Sprint Cup standings.  That leaves Matt Kenseth the leader in points followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr, Greg Biffle and Jimmy Johnson.  The Sprint Cup series is off next weekend, but back to racing on July 29th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
