After several close finishes, Hendrick Motorsports finally got it’s 200th career victory when Jimmy Johnson took the checkered flag at Darlington Raceway on Mother’s Day weekend in the Bojangles’ Southern 500.Known for being a very tough track and dealing out plenty of black stripes on the cars when drivers hit the wall,  ‘The Lady in Black” was pretty calm.  In fact, the race didn’t even have it’s first caution until 172 laps were completed.

By that time, Johnson pretty much had the race in hand.

The #48 machine lead the most laps with 134, dominating the race.  But, still had to fight off Tony Stewart on a green/white checkered flag caused by Kurt Busch hitting the wall to bring out a late caution.  The win not only got Johnson his first victory of this season and the first in 16 races, but it got Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports,  his 200th career victory.

“You’ve got to love that man,” Johnson said of his car owner during a celebration in Victory Lane. “He said, ‘Two hundred is great, but let’s go get 250.’ So that tells you where his head is. I love it. Oh, man, what a day!”
