For Dale Jr. fans, the wait is finally over!  Dale Earnhardt Jr. snapped a 4 year span in which he had not won a Sprint Cup Series race, by winning at Michigan International Speedway on Father’s Day. NASCAR’s most popular driver, had gone 143 races without seeing ‘victory lane’ before winning on the track that he last won a Sprint Cup race.  Jr. lead 95 of the 200 laps after having some trouble with his car as early as lap 11 when he had to come to pit road because of some issues with a tire. But, after taking the lead on lap 70, his number 88 machine dominated the race.  His car beat the second place car of Tony Stewart by 5.3 seconds.

Here is how the rest of the top 10 looked.

As a huge Dale Jr. fan myself, I couldn’t tell you how cool it was to see the guy finally win a race after 4 years.  Tony Stewart wasn’t as excited, however.

“It’s no different than anybody else that does it — it’s not a national holiday, guys,” Stewart said. “This morning they were celebrating the fourth anniversary of his last win, so I guess we’re all in a state of mourning now, ’cause he’s broke that string now, so I wonder what we’re all supposed to think.”

Gotta love Smoke’s sarcasm.

Anyway, check out a recap of the race in pictures followed by a video of Dale Jr’s win.
