'The Muppets 2' originally had Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz cast as the film's new villain, a bumbling Interpol agent. But Waltz was forced to drop out due to scheduling concerns and was replaced by 'Modern Family' star Ty Burrell (interesting choice for a replacement...). But now it appears that Waltz may star in 'The Muppets 2' after all, in a different role.

Waltz is currently doing promotion for a much different film - 'Django Unchained' - and spoke with Collider about his 'Muppets 2' near-miss and revealed that he still looks to participate in the upcoming sequel, albeit in a smaller role:

I was talking about it again today but it might nor be a proper part, it might be one of these little what they call cameos...I was looking forward to meeting Miss Piggy. But they told me that dancing with Miss Piggy, for example, is almost impossible because she’s totally operated by puppeteers and dancing is, you have to dance with someone where there’s actually a real person inside so let’s see who I dance with.

We like that he feels the need to explain what a cameo is...

But yes, this would be great to have Christoph Waltz return in some capacity. And dancing? This we gotta see.

Waltz would join the already cast Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fonzie, Animal and crew as well as humans Ricky Gervais and Burrell in 'Muppets 2' which is set for a December 20, 2013 release date.
